So, I was making some food (sausage and eggs) around 10:45 this morning. The sausages were making a fair bit of smoke so I went to close the kitchen door as to not set off the smoke detector. I gave the door a solid push to shut it, and along with firmly closing the handle fell out. Its an old door / handle and it came out in such a way that there was no way for me to temporarily reattach my side to open the door.

I was seriously contemplating going down the fire escape which there is access to from the kitchen to get to the other side where the main part of the door handle was so that I could open the door. I even had my house keys in my pocket so I was set.

Before I went down the fire escape in my slippers I decided to make one final attempt at getting the door open. I pushed the handle of a spoon in the crack between the door and the frame and was able to unhook the latch that goes into the wall.

All in all it was a bit stressful but problem solved. The smoke detector did not go off and I did not burn my food. That was my fun morning.

Well, this past week was reading week. I did not do nearly enough reading but I did do one really exciting thing. I put on skis for the first time ever. A bunch of friends and myself went to Tremblant last weekend. It was a ton of fun, I just wish skiing was a cheaper sport. I hope to go again next weekend, although not to Tremblant this time.
