For anyone who does not know, Tucker’s Market Place offers you a free buffet on your birthday (with proof i.e. drivers licence). Since today was my birthday and there is a Tucker’s Market place in Ottawa I thought I would head over there to see if I could get the deal. The reason I was not sure if I would be able to get a free meal is because today, along with it being my birthday was also mother’s day and I did not have a reservation.

At about 11am I walk into the restaurant with my girlfriend and we weave our way through the mass of people in the waiting area to the hostess to test our luck. Because this information is pertinent I will also mention that at this time it was 12-15 degrees outside and raining lightly. As we were standing there waiting to speak with the hostess, I overhead her telling the people in front of us that it was a two hour wait for a table, but the patio was open (they have a large awning) and if they wanted to sit on the patio then they could eat right away. Not only that, but if you sat on the patio then you got your meal for half price.

Score! We made it to the front of the line and accepted the patio offer. On mother’s day we got to sit and eat right away with no reservation and get our meals for half price, and it gets better. They gave me mine for free because it was my birthday. Final tally, two people, buffet, mother’s day and the bill came to $11.49. Yes it was a bit cool outside but it was well worth it.
