I recently decided I needed to get back into the habit of reading more. I really enjoy reading however seem to have prevented myself from doing so for the past couple of years. Throughout school (university) things were simply really busy. The only reading I did during the school year were text books (once again, not enough reading was done here...) and newspapers. Over the summers I would usually fit in a couple of books, but that would stop as soon as school started up again.
After I finished university I still was unable to get back into reading for pleasure. I continued to read the news but that was about it. I received a copy of the Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe December of 2006 (a mammoth book containing all of the books in the series). It took me a full year to finish it simply because I would read a bit and then put it down again for a couple of months.
I began reading The Da Vince Code sometime around January or February of this year. Again I read a bit then put it down for months. I recently (less then a week ago) decided enough was enough, it was time to read again. Well, the book is now finished. I know the movie did not read very good reviews however I do not recall ever hearing anything bad said about the book and now I know why, it is a really fun and entertaining story. One thing that I think helps the book maintain a fast pace is that I don't think the main characters sleep until the very end. The whole book takes place over the course of less then two days. In any event I will not give anything away other than to say it was a really good read.
My current predicament is whether to wait for Catch-22 to arrive (I ordered it) or to get something else to read in the mean time. I did go and get a library card when I first arrived in Ottawa, maybe it is finally time to go and make sure of it. |
